2008-2009 Ice Oval Season Set To Begin This Weekend in Beausejour

December 1, 2008

Hold on to your hats boys and girls!  Another great season of ice oval racing begins this weekend (December 6th and 7th) in Beausejour, Manitoba.  This is always an exciting time of year and I just love watching all of the new equipment roll out onto the big track at Beausejour.  For a lot of these teams, its “payoff” time.  Time to see if all the hard work in the offseason pays off.

For us here at Benoy Racing, we are full of nervous anticipation as we head into our first full season competing in the Champ 440 ranks.  We were able to get out on the ice on Sunday for some much needed test time with the new machine.

In a quick glance at the registered drivers for the Pro Champ 440 class, it looks to be a World Class field.  With 10 drivers registered already, I am expecting to see more than 20 entries in the Pro Champ field for the Season Opener at the CPTC track by the time registration closes on Wednesday.

2009 Oval Season is quickly approaching

November 3, 2008

Who’s ready?  I sure am!  We’ve been looking forward to the start of the season since we put the sled back in the trailer after the last final in Beausejour!  Please feel free to add a comment to let the racing world know how things are going for you or your teams.

Very Sad News

September 15, 2008

I am very sorry to report some very sad news.  Jeff Moyle was Killed on Sunday, September 14th in a tragic parasailing accident near his home in Chassell, MI.  Jeff was a very competitive racer on the ice oval  and watercross circuits until he retired from racing snowmobiles after the ’05 racing season.

I first met Jeff and the whole Moyle family back in the Summer of 1996.  The Moyle’s had decided to start racing watercross that summer and I formed a friendship with the Moyle family that continues to this day.  I don’t have the words to describe how sorry I am to hear this news.

Please feel free to share comments or memories of Jeff Moyle.

“Silly Season” in full swing!

September 11, 2008

I think the term “Silly Season” (as it’s commonly used in the NASCAR world ) is upon us in the world of Ice Oval racing.  The first shock of the season for me was the absence of Gary Moyle’s Arctic Cat Champ 440 from the Cat Racing display at Haydays.  Gary was by far the most competitive Cat on the ice oval last winter!  I thought to myself that something seemed fishy and my questions were answered on Monday morning when I checked the Moyle Racing website.
