Oval Racing Season Starts In Minnesota

At long last, the snowmobile oval racing season is about to start, thanks to the opening round of the WSA Pro-Ice circuit, held this year at the famous Raceway Park car racing track near Shakopee, Minnesota.

Traditionally, the opening of the oval racing season in the Upper Midwest has been at Beausejour, Manitoba, but that early December race was cancelled due to warm weather. The weather also ate into testing time for most teams. With a couple of cold weeks behind us, however, racers are eager to face off on the track.

Now, the ice is in place, the haybales are being stacked and the racing action is on its way. Racing will be held Saturday, December 18 and Sunday, December 19. Featured racing action will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. each afternoon. Gate fees are $20 either day, or $30 for the full weekend pass. For more information, visit www.pro-ice.com.

WSA Hill X Season Wrap Up at Spirit Mountain

Spirit Mountain once again played host to the WSA Hill X event that took place April 10th and 11th. Racers and fans alike made the trip to Duluth, Minnesota to compete and experience the last WSA event of the season. [Read more]

Biwabik, Minnesota. A town nestled in the Iron Range that I know nothing about besides the fact that contains my most favorite hill of all time. I was able to visit that hill again April 4-5 for the WSA Hillcross race that took place there. [Read more]

Ask and You Shall Recieve

Ask and you shall receive. With temperatures above freezing putting the track in peril, Saturday night racing under the lights was cut short early.
Perhaps too many of us were hoping too much for cooler conditions on Sunday, because they
certainly came. Despite freezing temperatures and close to 50 mile per hour winds, the race hosted by WSA Pro-Ice Racing and
the Rock Rapids Sno-Lyons in Rock Rapids, Iowa continued on.

First win to Wahl in Beausejour

With names like Wahl, Moyle, Wanderscheid and Bewcyk in the line up, you know your in for a good day of racing.  The cold and windy Sunday started with round one of Pro Champ 440 racing. Malcolm Chartier, PJ Wanderscheid and Brandon Johnson each won their heat races, not a bad way to start off.

First Results from Beausejour

Its official, the 2009 ice oval racing season has begun. There were more entries overall at this season opener than there has been in many years past. In the Pro Formula 600 class alone there were twenty entries.

Team Arctic and Hoglund Racing Join Forces

The ice oval racing community will be introduced to Team Arctic’s newest factory race team this season. Hoglund Racing has signed on with Arctic Cat and looks forward to the 2009 season.
