Legendary Yvon Duhamel Invited by Ski-Doo to Grand Prix de Valcourt

February 12, 2009

For some twenty years now, the circuit hosting every winter the Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt bears the name of one of motorsports greatest legends: Yvon Duhamel. A member of both the international motorcycle and snowmobile racing Hall of Fame and of the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame, the Montreal native has been the very first Ski-Doo racing team star. His memorable accomplishments in snowmobile racing have been a world championship title earned on the Eagle River oval in 1970 and his win in the challenging Winnipeg/St-Paul 500-mile cross-country race in 1972. Also a winner of the Daytona motorcycle race in 1969 and a World Champion in 1972, Duhamel will be an honorary guest of BRP Inc. during the Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt weekend, a few months before he turns 70, next October.

SNOCROSS RACING AT GRAND PRIX SKI-DOO DE VALCOURT:

QUÉBEC’S TIM TREMBLAY PLANS TO SHINE ON HIS HOME TURF

Release: GRAND PRIX SKI-DOO DE VALCOURT- Valcourt, February 10, 2009 – If there is a year where a local snocross driver may shine in front of his fellow Québec fans and dominate his American and English Canadian opponents at the Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt, it’s 2009. This native Quebec driver who turned 23 last November, must be Tim Tremblay, a name currently on the lips of anyone following the North Americam snocross scene. A native of Sainte-Jeanne d’Arc, a tiny village located a few kilometres east of Dolbeau in the Lac Saint-Jean area of Québec, the Ski-Doo driver has been simply impressive since early January on the AMSOIL ISOC series courses and is expected to be just as good, the weekend of the championship 6th leg, February 20, 21 and 22, in Valcourt.
With two wins, two second, a 4th, a 7th and a 8th place finishes since the beginning of the 2008-2099 season, Tremblay is engaged in a fierce battle for Semi Pro Open title against American Christian Salemark, Bobby Lepage and Dan Ebert; and Cory Davis, Dylan Martin and the same Ebert for the Semi Pro Super Stock title. In the Open class, he is currently 3rd, 15 points behind the leader while he is a strong 2nd, just 5 points away from the firs rank in Super Stock. If Tremblay maintains his pace at the last meeting before Valcourt, this coming weekend in the Finger Lakes region of New York, he may show up in the World’s snowmobile capital as the leader of both Semi Pro classes.

Huge Canterbury Crowd Witness Hibbert Romp

January 12, 2009

Shakopee, MN (January 10, 2009) – With one of the biggest crowds on hand in over ten-years at Canterbury Park, Tucker Hibbert (Arctic Cat) continued his season unbeaten streak in the Pro ranks with two driving away victories. Fans also got a taste of the new one-day three-hour main event format, which featured an all-final show with back to back to back Pro and Semi-Pro finals.

Tucker Drives Away Twice for Victory in Pro-Open Final
With his unbeaten streak on the line and the competitors hungry to end it, Tucker foiled their efforts once again by gaining the lead on the first lap by overcoming the holeshot lead of fellow Cat rider Brett Turcotte and proceeding to check-out. In his wake, a swarm of Polaris red lead by Levi LaVallee, DJ Eckstrom and Ross Martin followed Turcotte.

In the early laps, DJ went wide and off the track, shuffling him back in the pack while TJ Gulla (Pol), picked off Malinoski and settling in to the fifth place position. The running order remained Tucker, Turcotte, LaVallee, Martin and Gulla until lap 13, when Martin and Levi began to battle for the third place position, swapping the spot several times over the course of five laps.

Hibbert Sweeps ISOC’s Second National

December 15, 2008

Tucker Hibbert is off to a perfect start to his season after sweeping the ISOC Ironwood, Michigan, event. He swept the season opener at Duluth, Minnesota's Spirit Mountain Thanksgiving weekend.

Tucker Hibbert is off to a perfect start to his season after sweeping the ISOC Ironwood, Michigan, event. He swept the season opener at Duluth, Minnesota's Spirit Mountain Thanksgiving weekend.

Tucker Hibbert continued his win streak in the still young AMSOIL Championship Snocross Season, picking up where he left off in Duluth winning both Pro Main Events driving away. This time however it didn’t come without effort, especially in the Pro‐Open showcase race as Hibbert spun at the start and emerged mid‐pack at the close of the first lap.

The Bad River Lodge and Casino National featured a long .5‐mile track with multiple elevation changes and two dramatic up and down hill runs. Described by competitors as a national motocross type track with multiple lines and passing opportunities, virtually every final featured intense racing throughout the pack.

Such was the case in the Pro‐Open main event, as a string of talented Polaris riders led early but were eventually hunted down by Hibbert. In the early going it was Brett Bender with the holeshot and lap‐one lead only to be ejected while “bombing” the downhill portion of the track. This opened the door for fellow Polaris pilot TJ Gulla, followed by Ryan Simons on his Arctic Cat; Levi LaVallee on a Polaris and Ross Martin also on a Polaris.

But soon Hibbert was on the gas, picking off riders with spectacular set‐ups and passes. Averaging lap times as much as a second faster than his fellow competitors, Hibbert took over the lead by lap 8 and then proceeded to post taillights for the remainder of the 20‐lap final.
